  • Low-Income Apartment Search: The low-income apartment search criteria, supplied by HUD, offers participants the ability to conduct and apartment search for 1 to 5 bedrooms or more for privately owned subsidized housing. HUD provides funds to the property manager directly to reduced rent normally paid by participants. The low-income apartment search criteria can be located at http://www.hud.gov/apps/section8/index.cfm. This can also assist senior citizens and disabilities in apartment searching.
  • Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8): The Housing vouchers, Section 8, is used by very low-income families, elderly, or those with disabilities for apartments, single-family homes, or townhomes. This program, provided by HUD is administered by the Public Housing Agency (PHA), supplied through federal government funding. The participating families are required to find suitable housing as explained by HUD and PHA that meets the minimum standards of all health and safety regulations. Eligibility for the vouchers are based on the families gross income and family size, to US citizens and specified non-citizens who have eligibility. Interested applicants may apply for a voucher by contacting their local PHA provider or HUD office at http://www.hafresno.org/.
